Pittner Science - 1/23 & 1/24

Extended End of Semester Notes:

  1. Our Physics Assessment will take place on Tuesday. This assessment will assess students in both Standards 1 & 4. Therefore, there is the opportunity for final grades in these two standards to change based on the final assessment.
  2. Final grades for Standards 2, 3 & 5 should not change unless your student is working on missing work or corrections. All missing work and corrections needs to be turned in by Tuesday unless otherwise discussed with Ms. Pittner.
Thanks for a great semester! If you have any final questions, please do not hesitate to send me an email!

It's the last week of 8th Grade Science! Next week students will transition to Social Studies. During this final week, please be aware of the following:

  1.  ALL missing work or corrections MUST be turned in before the end of the day on THURSDAY.
  2. We will end 8th grade science with a Physics Assessment on THURSDAY. Students will need to apply their knowledge of roller coaster physics to new situations for this assessment. Big ideas will include: Speed & velocity, potential & kinetic energy, relative energy graphs, momentum, and friction. Due to canceled school on Monday, we will quickly cover Newton's Laws of Motion on Wednesday, however these concepts will not be included on the final assessment.

Pittner Science - Jan 9 - 13

Hello Everyone -

As we near the end of the semester, we have entered our final unit of 8th Grade Science - Physics! Students are using the concept of roller coasters to experiment with force and motion concepts.

Labs and daily check-ins will be part of this week - your student should not have any outside of class work (barring any unforeseen circumstances). However, as we near the end of the semester there are now less than 9 school days for your student to turn in any missing work or to make any necessary corrections. Please check in with your student and see if they have any missing work or work that needs to be corrected. This work will need to be done outside of class. Feel free to email me with any questions concerning this!
