Social Studies: Week of 3/2/15

This week the students will be doing a Socratic Circle as a form of review before their test on Wednesday. Following the test, students will continue to finish up their Poverty unit by watching the Netflix documentary "Living on One." In this documentary, 4 people visit Guatemala and try and live on one dollar a day. Next week, students will use a writing prompt to explore their experiences and what they learned throughout the documentary and the Poverty Unit as a whole.

Communication Arts: 3/2 - 3/6

This week students are researching for and writing their argument paper. We are collaborating with Science for this task. Students have to take a side on the fracking debate and defend their position with claims and evidence. The students have a graphic organizer with daily checkpoints to guide them through this process as well as a claims evidence packet. There will be work time in class to write, research and ask questions each day this week. The half-time or rough draft of the argument paper is due at the end of class on Friday, 3/6.
