Social Studies Culture Test on Friday 9/25

This coming Friday, the 8th grade social studies classes will be taking their first unit test of the year. The test will focus on culture, religion, types of governments, and economic systems. Students were given a review guide with all the information that will be covered in class on Monday. Study, study, study and good luck on Friday!

Algebra 1 (9/21-9/25)

Here are the assignments for the week. Assignments may be modified depending on how things go in class on a daily basis.

Monday--no homework (Chapter 1 Test)
Tuesday (Chapter 1 Review)--review problems for chapter 1 retake, if necessary
Wednesday--work in class on rational numbers project
Thursday--work in class on rational numbers project
Friday--work in class on rational numbers project

The Chapter 1 Test is scheduled for Monday of this week. Kids are able to use their notes on the test.

The Chapter 1 Test will begin on Monday of this week. Students are allowed to have the front side of one sheet of paper for notes.

Communication Arts: 9/21 - 9/25

This week, students will continue to learn and review strategies to use in their writing to improve upon the skills and knowledge they already have such as FANBOYS and citing text evidence. Students will also take part in the 3 minute reading assessment on Wednesday to further inform and help guide my instruction in the area of reading. At the end of the week, students will begin to closely read, analyze and storyboard the play "The Merry Wives of Windsor" which we will see at American Players Theatre on September 30th.

***Students were given field trip permission slips on Friday. Please sign and return the slip by this Friday, September 25th. The cost for this field trip is $13. If you need financial assistance, please contact Miss Deans at bdean@poynette.k12.wi.us or extension 328.

Communication Arts: 9/14 - 9/18

This week students will analyze and review models for Advanced level connections and for the writing standard. In addition to this students will also take part in their first graded discussion and prepare for this by reading the same text and writing questions at various Bloom's Taxonomy levels. Lastly students will review and practice multiple grammar strategies to improve their writing.

**The first Weekly Reading Evidence paragraph will be due on Thursday, 9/17; students will write a first draft and be given the opportunity to revise this using STAR revision strategies during class.
