This week students will turn their news article into a news story. They will film this news story and present it towards the end of the week. At the end of the week, students will begin a reading unit and will need to pick a novel to use throughout the unit.

8th graders in Spanish 1 are still progressing through Unit 1 about hobbies and interests. Students will turn their focus to practicing their writing this week as they prepare for their Unit 1 Assessment which will be next week.

Reminder - Devil's Lake Field Trip Tomorrow

Hello - This is just a reminder that the field trip to Devil's Lake for all 8th grade students is happening tomorrow, Wednesday October 3. Students need to be prepared to be on their feet and moving for most of the day. There will be uphill and downhill hiking for a portion of the day. Please check the list below of things that your student MUST have with them tomorrow so that they are prepared for the trip:

• Gym/Hiking Shoes - due to the nature of the hike, students will not be able to board the bus with out having gym shoes or hiking/rain boots with grip on the bottom
• Bag lunch (students who ordered a bag lunch from school can pick up their lunch during nutrition break)
• Water
• Backpack or drawstring/cinch bag 
• Pencil

Recommended Items Include:

• Poncho/Rain Coat
• Extra Sweatshirt/Coat
• Sunscreen
• Extra dry shoes to change into on the bus

Week of October 1

Students will finish up their final article this week. This will be due by the end of the day on Tuesday. The rest of the week students will be doing various closure activities to wrap up the current unit.
